What is the purpose of the CSOL® Arts Advocacy Committee?
The bylaws of the CSOL state that the Arts Advocacy Committee will work with other arts organizations as deemed appropriate to raise the level of awareness of the value of the arts in our lives and community.
Who do we work with?
On the national level we work with Americans for the Arts and its advocacy arm, the Americans for the Arts Action Fund--AAAF.
On the state level we work with the South Carolina Arts Commission and with the SC Arts Alliance —SCAA—which serves as its advocate for the arts.

Americans for the Arts sponsors Arts and Humanities Month each October with nationwide celebrations and events promoting appreciation for the arts, and also sponsors National Arts Advocacy Day each year.

The Arts Action Fund’s goal is to enlist and mobilize 100,000 citizen activists who will help ensure that arts-friendly public policies are adopted at the Federal, state, and local levels, and public and private resources are maximized. |

The South Carolina Arts Commission, an autonomous state agency governed by a 9-member Board of Commissioners, was created by an act of the state legislature in 1967. Its mission is to build a thriving arts environment for the benefit of all South Carolinians.

The South Carolina Arts Alliance (SCAA) is a private, non-profit statewide assembly of arts organizations, educators, administrators, business and private individuals, that serves its constituency by providing advocacy, resources and technical services.
